PRESSITEADE
Täna, 4. aprillil 2024.a. kell 08.55 algab NATO75-le aastapäevale pühendatud NATO-Euroopa Liidu Ümarlaud. Üritus toimub Nordic Hotel Forum hotellis (Viru väljak 3, Tallinn) Eesti NATO Ühingu korraldusel juba kaheteistkümnendat korda. Konverentsi avab endine Eesti Vabariigi president Toomas Hendrik Ilves.
Ürituse töökeeleks on inglise keel.
NATO-Euroopa Liidu Ümarlauda korraldab Eesti NATO Ühing koostöös Friedrich Eberti Fondi, Kodanikuühiskonna Sihtkapitali, Ühendkuningriigi Suursaatkonna, Eesti kaitseministeeriumi ja välisministeeriumiga.

10.30-12.00 Forging Ahead Together: NATO and the EU in the 21st Century - Celebrating Past Triumphs, Facing Future Challenges
The global geopolitical landscape is changing, with shifts in power dynamics and the emergence of new actors. NATO and the EU must adapt to these changes, particularly in their relations with Russia and China, to ensure they remain relevant and effective. The relationship between Europe and the United States remains critical for both NATO and the EU. Balancing European interests and expectations with American priorities will require skilful diplomacy and coordination.
The EU's internal politics and the divergent interests of its member states can complicate its engagement with NATO. Building consensus among EU member states on security and defence issues will remain a challenge. Countering cyber threats and hybrid warfare requires a coordinated response, but this area is complex and rapidly evolving.
NATO and the EU must develop common strategies and capabilities to effectively address these modern challenges. How is NATO and the EU managing these problems and facing challenges together will be found out in this panel.
